Currently living in Mexico City. Between 2011 and 2014, he was based in Afghanistan for the New York Times Magazine. He has also reported for The New Yorker on the war in Syria and the Ebola epidemic in West Africa. Is the author of the short-story collection “These Heroic, Happy Dead.”
